Wigen Water Technologies is a leading producer of custom targeted ion exchange (TIE) systems ideal for a wide variety of both industrial and municipal applications. Simply stated, ion exchange is a process between two electrolytes, or between an electrolyte solution and a complex. In most cases, the term is used to denote the processes of purification, separation and/or decontamination of aqueous solutions with solid polymeric or mineralic ion exchangers.
Wigen’s TIEs are designed to be either unselective or have binding preferences for certain ions or classes of ions depending on their chemical structure. This can be dependent on the size of the ions, their charge or their structure. These systems may be regenerable, or non-regenerable where the spent resin is replaced, depending on the targeted ion.
