Membrane Analysis & Cleaning
Wigen is a recognized leader in membrane cleaning services. While it’s well known that all membranes require periodic cleaning, many operators overlook the fact that not all cleaning procedures are the same. Simply applying the traditional high pH followed by low pH cleaners, may be compounding the problem. For example, in circumstances where bacteria or bio-fouling have occurred, operators may need to apply specialized high pH cleaners before introducing low pH cleaners.
Additionally, effective membrane cleaning requires precise preparation when mixing cleaning solutions. Specifically, operators must calculate the total volume in tanks and pipes with care. Too often, they exclude the volume within the pressure vessels, which results in over-diluted solutions that significantly reduce cleaning effectiveness. Furthermore, critical parameters like pressure, flow, and temperature must fall within specific ranges. Otherwise, operators risk wasting valuable time and resources while achieving subpar results.
Contact Wigen to do a thorough evaluation of your membranes. If necessary, we will remove specific membranes and determine the fouling constituents and the means in which to clean them through forensic examination. Let our experience help you lower operating costs and prevent down-time.
